A Spectacular Operation Beachhead Children’s Day - 8/14/13

Posted on August 14, 2013

Michael Ricci’s Operation Beachhead provides water sport instruction and opportunities to children and adults that otherwise couldn’t have the opportunity due to physical limitations.  On August 11th, the organization held an event for children.  The water was warm and the sun was shining as the children and their families arrived at the North Beach in Sea Girt for a picture perfect, Operation Beachhead Children’s day.

Some of the children had their first experience with boogie boards and surfboards. The participants even ventured to try kayaks and paddle-boards. Operation Beachhead provided all the equipment. The trained water-sport instructors were in the water ready to help and guide the children. The Sea Girt lifeguards are always willing to lend a hand and this day was no exception.

Smiles were seen everywhere from the volunteers to the children and especially to the parents.

Additionally, during the New Jersey Heroes Awards event in July, where Michael was honored, the attached painting was created as a form of Art Therapy.  It’s now a on display and getting plenty of admiration and compliments.

On August 24th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm a similar event will be held for 9/11 widows and widowers.  To learn more about upcoming events, volunteer or donate please visit:  http://www.opbeachhead.org/
