Wendie Blanchard Collaborates with Vertical Harvest of Wyoming on Greenhouse Projects - 1/24/13

Posted on January 24, 2013

New Jersey Hero, Wendie Blanchard, has collaborated with Vertical Harvest of Wyoming to offer some first-hand advice about running hydroponic greenhouses that provide employment opportunities for disabled individuals.

Wendie Blanchard’s organization, Arthur and Friends, is dedicated to providing disabled citizens with meaningful work through offering job opportunities in their hydroponic greenhouse programs, which grow fresh produce for local farm markets and restaurants. Arthur and Friends currently runs three active programs in Hackettstown, Orange, and the New Jersey State Fair Grounds.

Vertical Harvest is pursuing a very similar business venture in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and members of the organization sat down with Wendie in hopes of receiving some advise about their production process. Vertical Harvest has blogged that Wendie was able to help them “further refine [their] production numbers and the cost of growing”.

We congratulate both Arthur and Friends and Vertical Harvest in their dual-commitment to providing both fresh produce and meaningful employment opportunities to disabled individuals, and we are inspired by their efforts in building a countrywide network of such valuable programs.
