Beth Stefanacci – Go4theGoal - 3/31/15
This past month, we had our first-ever online public selection process for the NJ Hero Award. I’m so pleased to name Beth Stefanacci, founder of Go4theGoal Pediatric Cancer Foundation, our 33rd New Jersey Hero!
Beth was up for the NJ Hero Award along with two other nominees – Julianna Furfari of Tiara’s Loving Children and Yvette Long of Platinum Minds. This was a great opportunity to bring awareness to three NJ residents who are making a huge impact in our state! It was a close race, but after 4 weeks of online voting, Beth came out on top with 7,884 votes!
Go4theGoal was founded in 2006 after Beth’s son, Richard, was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Although Richard lost his battle a year later, the program grew stronger and Beth was incredibly determined to help those going through the same experience she and her family endured. The mission of Go4theGoal is to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial support, developing and implementing unique hospital programs, funding innovative research, and granting personal wishes. Beth achieves this mission through the foundation’s programs which include, Karts 4 Kids, Family Support, Wish Granting, and Hospital Grants. Since 2007, Go4theGoal has provided almost $1,000,000 in research grants to hospitals to fund programs and renovations that improve the lives of children being treated for cancer.
After losing her own son, Beth’s unwavering dedication to improving the lives of children with pediatric cancer is what truly makes her a hero. Her selflessness and strength are so admirable. I am honored to name her our 2nd NJ Hero of 2015.
