First Lady Mary Pat Christie Announces 2015 Heart of a Hero Scholarship Recipients - 9/14/15
I was so happy to be at Drumthwacket today to announce the recipients of the 4th annual New Jersey Heroes Heart of a Hero Scholarship! This $5,000 scholarship is for military service members, active duty and veterans, from NJ. Thanks to the generous support of AT&T, who funded half of the scholarships, we were able to award 10 very deserving military heroes with scholarships to use towards their post-secondary or masters education. These individuals were chosen from a highly competitive group of applicants. In addition to serving their country, these 10 men and women have each gone above and beyond, demonstrating a commitment to volunteerism and community contribution. They, like our New Jersey Heroes, are working to make our state a better place. These service men and women are a great example of the amazing people that make up our New Jersey family. From starting a free crossfit center for veterans and their families to facilitating sexual harassment programs, these recipients are truly an inspiration. I loved being able to meet them and hear their stories first hand. I am honored to recognize their service and support their bright futures through this scholarship program. Thank you to our recipients for all that you do and congratulations!
