Spring Run School Announces Extended School Year - 5/27/15
Spring Run School, a private, secondary high school serving students aged 13-21 who are on the autism spectrum or multi-disabled, is now accepting applications for the Extended School Year. The extended school year will run from July 1 through August 31, 2015 as well as the 2015 – 2016 academic year. This special program provides additional time, beyond the school year, to help students with disabilities develop their academic and social skills.
The summer program will include full-scale, individualized academic instruction, physical education, art / ceramics, life skills, financial literacy, vocational instruction with job coaching and weekly extended classroom experiences. The students will also be working on a local farm and learning gardening around the school.
Spring Run features an Activities of Daily Living (ADL) area where students can practice doing laundry, making meals and other self-sufficiency activities. A variety of off-campus experiences will facilitate social skills and encourage community participation. Trips scheduled will include movies, Nockamixon pool, Arboretum, Equine Therapy, Longwood Gardens, Howell Living Farm, Insectropolis, Echo Hill, and more.
If your child receives special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), he or she may be eligible for this program. Students with special needs from non-sending districts are welcome to apply for placement.
